چکیده

The purpose of this Letter is to examine briefly the consequences of a certain class of four-wave mixing. This mixing involves two intense pun-p waves E1 and EB of the same frequency w traveling in opposite directions and two "weak" waves E 3 and E4 of the same frequency w, which aiso travel in opposition to each other but along a direction different from that of E1 and E2 . The geometry is illustrated in Fig. 1. The fields are taken as plane waves

Degenerate four waves mixing in multilayer nanoshell

We will present a detailed investigation of intersubband transitions process in core-multi shells quantum dots. The confined wave functions and eigenenergies of electrons in quantum dots have been calculated under the effective-mass approximation by solving a three-dimensional Schrodinger equation. Excellent dependence is found between size effects, time relaxation and degenerate four wave mixi...

CONTINUOUS-WAVE PHASE CONJUGATION WITH F-AGGREGATE COLOR CENTERS IN LiF

We report the first observation of continuous degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) with color centers in LiF. Using a new technique which permits subkilohertz resolution, we have also observed the nearly degenerate four-wave mixing (NDFWM) spectrum in the visible spectral region.

Quasi-collinear and partially degenerate four-wave mixing: an alternative explanation of the phase-conjugation property of backward stimulated scattering

A quasi-collinear and partially degenerate four-wave mixing model is proposed to explain the optical phase-conjugation property of various types of stimulated backscattering. According to this model, after passing through a phase-disturbed medium or an aberration plate, the input pump beam can be resolved into two portions: a stronger undisturbed regular portion and a weaker phase-disturbed irr...

Narrow-band optical filter through phase conjugation by nondegenerate four-wave mixing in sodium vapor.

An ultrahigh-Q, tunable optical filter with a FWHM bandwidth of 41 MHz is demonstrated. The filtering is produced by nondegenerate phase conjugation through four-wave mixing in atomic-sodium vapor. The filter is observed to have a maximum quantum efficiency of 4 x 10(-3). However, degenerate phase-conjugation experiments in sodium suggest that a quantum efficiency of greater than unity can be a...
